...ok, honestly? That sounds like someone being a huge tool with their superpowers. Dogs don't just swarm for no reason unless you're holding a side of beef or something.

[and that kind of ticks her off, but she'll keep that part to herself. people being assholes because they have special abilities is one of her sore points.]

You should really be a little more aware, though. It's not like dogs are these tiny super missable things.

[and for once it sounds like a comforting phrase rather than an accusation. Hazel can't - won't - say it, but she understands his plight a lot more than it seems.

it's not as dire, coming into a world she can at least navigate through, but to suddenly be faced with people who think she was worth the time of day? people who really believed she was a good person and were willing to put their lives on the line for her happiness? it's beyond her grasp and absolutely terrifying. she gets that.]

Anybody who doesn't expect you to fuck up a few times in a totally new world is an asshole, and you shouldn't listen to a goddamn thing they say. But you have to keep trying, alright? No matter how many times you fuck up, you have to keep trying.

...anyway, it's not like you're going at it alone.

I know it's not really close to the people you know at home, but you've got people here too. And it's not like someone you recognize might not drop in some day.

[this she doesn't understand. there's nothing for Hazel at home anymore, and certainly no people to miss. all of her loved ones can't see her anymore - it would kill them.]
